Vinny Santorini (Atlantis: the Lost Empire) // We done a lot of things we’re not proud of. Robbing graves, eh, plundering tombs, double parking. But, nobody got hurt. Well, maybe somebody got hurt, but nobody we knew.

You got anything sporty, like a tuna?

I named my mom’s Betta fish “Tony Shark.”

No.
Stop doing this crap right now.
Take the fish out of the glorified planter and put it in a tank or at the very least, a fishbowl.
The fish cannot get oxygen in the water and the plant will take whatever nutrients first.
The plant is also, in most cases, toxic to the fish.
The fish will be stressed because it has no dark place to hide.
The fish has no way to get food.
The only thing you’ve done right is provide the fish a way to gulp oxygen.
Just because you’ve seen this in some decorator magazine, does not mean it is the right thing to do. Betta fish actually require a lot of maintenance and care.
Please people, do some bleeding research before you decide to get a betta.

Dude, calm your tits.
The plant’s a peace lily. It takes up maybe a third of the water surface. The fish can chill out in and nibble on the roots, which also help to oxygenate the water. My mom feeds it Betta fish food regularly, through a straw which she pokes past the plastic planter so she doesn’t freak the fish out by wrestling with the roots every which way. I can’t exactly ascertain Tony’s quality of life here, but he seems pretty okay to me. I might be wrong, but I think he likes it better than the 8-ounce cup my mom rescued him from on the shelf in WalMart.
I understand that you’re trying to educate us all here, but I’d appreciate it if you weren’t so butthurt about it.

^That. Shame on you for giving the poor fish a home and naming it, instead of leaving it in a jello shot container.

Perfect name by the way. :D
